I was asked to supply a link or two for online tuners. Well, having seen one or two I found during a Google search, I decided to make my own pitched samples.
These are samples of actual instruments and are accurate to within one or two cents by my electronic tuner.
Acoustic Guitar (Nylon strings)
These are the pitches of the numbered strings on a standard Acoustic guitar. If you are left-handed, the strings will obviously be numbered in the opposite direction.
Roll your mouse pointer over the numbered buttons to hear the samples.
6-E 5-A 4-D 3-G 2-B 1-E
Electric Guitar (Metal strings)
The pitch for an electric guitar is identical but you may find it easier to listen and tune to actual samples of an electric instrument.
Roll your mouse pointer over the buttons to hear the samples.
6-E 5-A 4-D 3-G 2-B 1-E
Banjo (5-String)
Only five strings on this beast, but it doesn't make it any easier to play.
Use the rollovers to listen to the pitch of each string.
Yes, the fifth string is higher than the fourth.
5-G' 4-D 3-G 2-B 1-D'
The Violin
The strings are numbered as you see them from the playing position.
Move your mous pointer over the buttons to hear the samples.
You can use these tones to tune a mandoline as well.
